Mrs. Margaret HOLLAND. Mrs. Holland originally taught English at WGHS as Miss Bruce, probably in the late 40's / early 50's, with Miss Reidy as her Head of Department. After she married Bernard Holland, another teacher in Wolverhampton, she gave up teaching to bring up their two sons. When Miss Reidy retired in 1973, Mrs. Holland came back to school as Head of English, where she remained until her retirement in 1982. She is remembered as a wonderful and sympathetic Head of Department, who always consulted with her departmental colleagues; her wise handling of her team made for a very happy department. In latter years, she and Bernard moved to the Plymouth area, to be near one of their sons and she died there in 2009. MMB and EAT |
