Ann Poole was born on the 4th March 1927. She was a gentle, kind, caring person, much loved by everyone who knew her including those who cared for her in her final year. She lived a full and active life until the last eighteen months after suffering a second stroke. She passed away on the 4th June 2013 and will be much missed by family and friends.

The eldest of three girls, she had a happy and settled childhood in Dunstall area of Wolverhampton and later she lived in Penn. She attended Christchurch (Dunstall) Primary School, Woodfield Avenue Primary School and was a pupil at WGHS from1938 to 1943. She left after having gotten a good School Certificate. She then attended Wolverhampton Technical College from 1943-1944 to take a secretarial course. She studied at evening classes and achieved membership of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries. She worked as a private secretary at two firms in Wolverhampton and then eventually became Company Secretary of Robert Eaton Ltd, her husband's business - firstly in Wolverhampton and then at Lea Manor Hotel at Boningale. Later in life she had her own fencing business in Telford, she then managed Stafford Abbeyfield, and finally ran her own independent book-keeping service until 2012.

She married Bob Eaton in 1952, lived in Albrighton, for many years. They were blessed with three children, Bill, Mike and Carol. Divorced 1974, Ann then lived with her daughter Carol most of the time - for five years from 1972 in Brixham, then back in Wolverhampton.

She had many interests:

- Girl Guides – she restarted the Guide Unit in Albrighton, and later ran the Brownies. She became District Commissioner for Albrighton and Beckbury and later, Division Commissioner for Shifnal. She was also the treasurer of the Midlands Region Guide International Camp (MAGIC) at Malvern in 1985

- Boating - she participated in watersports in piloting a dinghy and she loved small motor yacht sailing, narrowboats, Thames Barge, former ocean racer, Ocean Cruising Club sailing ships, Norfolk Wherry Yacht, she went on several courses!

- Trains - she visited all of the Little Trains of Wales and several others with her two young sons.

- Caravanning - she owned a static caravan in Wales, much used for many years.

- Wolverhampton Community Radio - in support of son Mike who died of cancer in 1992

- Archaeology and History - gained an A Level in archaeology, and visited many sites in Devon, Cornwall and other places.

Dogs - had four dogs over a span of fifty years, all with strong personalities and quirky characteristics.

Gardening - her great passion in later years. When Carol and her partner looked for a house to provide downstairs accommodation for Ann, she never bothered with the rooms but made a beeline for the garden.
